Article Citation Count: 1An analysis and a solution for the existence of Turkish leather industry(Academic Journals, 2010) Yamamoto, Gonca Telli; Yilmaz, Bekir; Bayramoglu, Eser Eke; Sekeroglu, OzgurLeather industry is one of the leading sectors of the Turkish economy in terms of industrial production and employment. The gradual transformation of leather companies towards automation in their production processes, and towards transferring a portion of the company and product promotions to the Internet via computers can be considered as the early steps of e-commerce entrepreneurship in this regard. This paper attempts to analyze the Turkish Leather Industry in the light of e-commerce and e-marketing practice issues.Article Citation Count: 3Comparison of certain microbial counting methods which are currently commonly used in the soaking process(Academic Journals, 2009) Bayramoglu, Eser Eke; Yamamoto, Gonca Telli; Uluc, DuedenThis study examines the interrelation of the test methods which are commonly applied in the leather industry for hide or skin soaking. For this purpose, five different bactericides were given during the soaking processes and after the presoaking process. The processes were measured at the first 20(th) min, 24(th) and 48(th) h. For this purpose, two different ATP test kits, dip slide and agar pour plate method were used in order to determine the microorganism load as RLU (Relative Light Units) or CFU (Colony Forming Units)/ml. The values with all methods were identified as highly different from each other, while the statistical analyses indicated positive Pearson correlation coefficients especially between the 24(th) and 48(th) h measurements. The appearance of a positive correlation between the different methods under constant conditions implied the effectiveness of the bactericides to the customer at the factory environment. The ATP test method and dip slide methods that are commonly used in the market are correct and convenient methods offered by some companies.Article Citation Count: 1Determination of the effectiveness of organosulfur compound in the leather industry by adenosine triphosphate (ATP) luminometer(Academic Journals, 2011) Sekeroglu, Ozgur Karamanli; Bayramoglu, Eser Eke; Yamamoto, Gonca TelliOrganosulfur compound is the world's leading bactericide product for the leather industry. It was reported that it is highly effective for preserving salt and brine solutions, soaking liquors as well as processing materials. This research was conducted in a plant-processing cattle hide in Tuzla. Measurements were carried out at 24 h of wetting back-soaking baths into which was fed organosulfur containing commercial bactericide at the ratio of 0.02% at the beginning of soaking process every month for a year. The objective of this study was to examine the effectiveness of organosulfur compound commercially using adenosine triphosphate (ATP) luminometer. According to ATP test, organosulfur compound had enough effective bactericidal activity during the soaking process.
