The focus has shifted from an operational perspective to a strategic one, and SCM is repeatedly cited in the literature as a strategic management tool with a profound effect on the survival of the organizations. SCM domain is well-supported to be closely linked with a number of strategic management views and theories. This study investigates the main strategic management views and theories relevant to SCM and their interactions. It reveals how they complementarily explain supply chain management characteristics of being customer-driven, process-oriented, global, strategically coupled, complex, dynamic, adaptive, multi-agent, IT-intensive, value creating, collaborative and networked. Based on a comprehensive literature taxonomy, a mapping of the main supply chain characteristics to these management views and theories is provided. A conceptual clustering of different management perspectives is developed, and their interactions are analyzed. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.Book Part Citation Count: 12Transformation of Supply Chain Activities in Blockchain Environment(Springer, 2020) Akyuz,G.A.; Gursoy,G.Blockchain is one of the breakthrough technologies having the potential to dramatically transform the supply chains. In this study, potential impact of the blockchain technology on the supply chain management (SCM) will be investigated to reveal the nature of transformation that it can result in the domain. Based on a comprehensive review of recent literature at the intersection of blockchain and SCM, effects of blockchain on SCM are analysed under four titles: (a) basic characteristics, (b) transparency/visibility and traceability, (c) automated controls with smart contracts; and (d) trust-building and collaboration. Findings reveal that the technology is expected to provide accurate and trustable transaction infrastructure as well as true visibility and traceability across partners. With its potential to provide a transparent and trustable multi-partner ecosystem, it appears that blockchain will accelerate and strengthen the realization of a collaborative, IT-based network paradigm. Hence, findings of the study support that the blockchain technology will be a critical enabler of the transformation of the supply chains into tightly coupled, transparent collaborative ecosystems. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.Article Citation Count: 5Trends of non-financial corporations listed on borsa istanbul: Rethinking corporate ownership and governance under covid-19(Virtus Interpress, 2020) Atici,G.; Gursoy,G.The purpose of this study is to analyze trends of non-financial corporations listed on Borsa Istanbul (BIST) in terms of ownership structure for the period of 2002-2019. According to our findings, Turkish non-financial corporations reveal a concentrated nature as an example of family capitalism. Findings also reveal that initial public offerings are mainly from family-controlled corporations. This is noteworthy as corporations integrate more to the capital markets of Turkey. Besides, they get more disciplined as they subject to the regulations of the governing bodies and internalise corporate governance criteria. In terms of ownership mix, findings denote that non-financial corporations listed on BIST benefit from the advantages of conglomerates, cross-ownership, and foreign ownership in line with the literature. Contrary to several emerging economies, state-ownership has a minor share which renders strength and quality of governance level. The concentrated nature of corporations is believed to have a positive effect on governance mechanisms for controlling agency problems especially in the environment of uncertainty during COVID-19. Although Turkish capital markets have promising and progressing corporate governance mechanisms, steps to build up advanced digital governance mechanisms for the “digital new normal” should be taken as soon as possible. © 2020 The Authors.
