Abstract
20. yüzyılın en önemli bestecilerinden biri olan Igor Stravinsky, Rus Halk Müziği ezgileri içeren Ulusalcı eserleri ile başlayan müzik hayatını, Neo-Klasik yapıtlarla sürdürmüş ardından, çok uzun bir süre kayıtsız kaldığı on iki ton müziğine yönelmiştir. Bu çalışmada ele alınan 'The Rake's Progress - Hovardanın Sonu' Operası, bestecinin Neo-Klasik eserleri arasında yer almaktadır. Bu opera, bestecinin en uzun operalarından biri olup, bu çalışmanın ikinci bölümünde Igor Stravinsky'nin yaşamının ilk yarısında gelişen önemli müzik olayları ve opera dünyasında olan önemli gelişmelere yer verilmiş, 20. Yüzyıl müziği ve 12 ton müzik tekniği hakkında detaylı açıklamalarda bulunulmuştur. 20. Yüzyıl Opera Sanatını daha iyi anlamak adına dönemin operalarından örnekler sunulmuş, konularına yer verilmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde Hovardanın Sonu operasının bestecisi Igor Stravinsky'nin Hayatı ve Eserleri ele alınmış, bestecinin yaratı dönemlerine, ayrıca önemli eserlerine yer verilmiştir. Dördüncü bölümde operanın konusu, eserin bestelenme sürecine ve sahnelenme aşamasına yer verilmiştir. Beşinci bölümde ise eserin müzikal yapısı ele alınmış, seçilen bazı arialar vokal teknik ve yorum açısından ayrıntılı bir şekilde incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın sonucunun ortaya konmasının yanı sıra, ekler kısmında eserin İngilizce-Türkçe libretto çevirisi de sunulmuştur. Bu çalışmada, kaynak tarama yöntemi uygulanmış, ülkemizde sahnelenecek en son gösterimi pandemi sebebiyle ertelenen bu eser hakkında akademisyenlere, sanatçılar ve öğrencilere Türkçe kaynak sağlamak amaçlanmıştır.
Igor Stravinsky, one of the most important composers of the 20th century, started his musical life with Nationalist works containing Russian Folk Music melodies, continued with Neo-Classical works, and then turned to twelve-tone music, which he remained indifferent for a very long time. 'The Rake's Progress' Opera, which is discussed in this study, is among the Neo-Classical works of the composer. This opera is one of the longest operas of the composer and in the second chapter of this study, important musical events that developed in the first half of Igor Stravinsky's life and important developments in the opera world are given, and detailed explanations are made about 20th century music and 12-tone music technique. In order to better understand the 20th Century Opera Art, examples from the operas of the period are presented and their subjects are included. In the third chapter, the Life and Works of Igor Stravinsky, the composer of The Rake's Progress Opera are discussed and the composer's creative periods and important works are included. In the fourth chapter, the subject of the opera, the composition process of the work and the phase of its staging are given. In the fifth chapter, the musical structure of the work is discussed, and some selected arias are examined in detail in terms of vocal technique and interpretation. In addition to presenting the result of the study, the English-Turkish libretto translation of the work is also presented in the appendices. In this study, the literature review method was applied and it was aimed to provide Turkish resources to academicians, artists and students about this work which was postponed due to the pandemic in our country.
