Abstract

This paper studies the techno-economic design of a green cellular base station, with an emphasis on the effect of changing cellular traffic design patterns on the design and the maintenance costs. The projected changes in traffic due to changes in internet usage patterns will be mapped to changes in electric load for the cellular base station. The effect of such changes on the optimum design and on the maintenance costs of existing green cellular base station design are studied.
