Abstract
Bu araştırmada üniversite öğrencilerinde sosyal medya bağımlılığının sosyal görünüş kaygısı ve yeme tutumu ile ilişkisi incelenmiştir. Ek olarak, bu değişkenlerin sosyodemografik özelliklerle olan ilişkisine de bakılmıştır. Katılımcılar Türkiye'de lisans ve yüksek lisans öğrenimi gören 398 kişiden oluşmaktadır. Katılımcıların 288'ini kadınlar 110'unu ise erkekler oluşturmaktadır. Ankete katılanların sosyal medya bağımlılık düzeyleri Tutgun-Ünal ve Deniz (2015) tarafından geliştirilen Sosyal Medya Bağımlılığı Ölçeği kullanılarak, sosyal görünüş kaygısı düzeyleri Hart ve arkadaşları (2008) tarafından geliştirilen Sosyal Görünüş Kaygısı Ölçeği kullanılarak, yeme tutumları ise Garner ve Garfinkel (1979) tarafından geliştirilen Yeme Tutum Testi ile ölçülmüştür. Verilerin analizi SPSS 25.0 kullanılarak yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda sosyal medya bağımlılığı ile sosyal görünüş kaygısı arasında poziTif yönlü anlamlı bir ilişki saptanırken, sosyal medya bağımlılığı ve yeme tutumu arasında negatif yönlü anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu bulunmuştur. Bunun yanı sıra demografik değişkenlerle sosyal medya bağımlılığı, sosyal görünüş kaygısı ve yeme tutumu arasında da anlamlı ilişki tespit edilmiştir. In this study, the relationship between social media addiction, social appearance anxiety and eating attitudes among university students was investigated. In addition, the relationship between these variables and sociodemographic characteristics is also investigated. Participants consist of 398 individuals who are undergraduate and graduate students in Turkey. While 288 of the participants are women, 110 of them consist of men. Respondents' social media addiction level is determined by Social Media Addiction Scale developed by Tutgun-Ünal and Deniz (2015), social appearance anxiety levels determined by Social Appearance Anxiety Scale (SAAS) developed by Hart et al. (2008), eating attitudes measured by Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-40) developed by Garner and Garfinkel (1979). SPSS 25.0 was used to analyze the data. As a result of the study, it was concluded that a positive significant relationship was found between social media addiction and social appearance anxiety disorder, on the other hand a negative significant relationship was found between social media addiction and eating attitudes. Thus, significant relationship was found between demographic variables, social media addiction, social appearance anxiety and eating attitudes. Findings are discussed by comparing with literature.
