Abstract

A crisis is referred to an unplanned event emerging from the internal or external environment of an organization, region, or country which can disrupt operations, threaten people physically and mentally, Crises often have negative consequences including a decrease in demand and revenues, rising costs, the deterioration of normal conditions. Meanwhile, some of them may also offer some opportunities for companies. It had both negative and positive impacts although its benefits were often overlooked. But it becomes essential to react against them with appropriate solutions. It is an empirical evidence of how Turkish Private Sector Airlines Companies in particular coped with and was affected by the crises in 2004. It has been investigated and displayed with this paper that the same situations have common points to deal with in 2004 and 2011. The aim of this study is to evaluate and compare between 2004 and 2011 conditions of the Turkish Private Sector Airlines Companies, during the uproar of crises. In particular, it focuses on determining Turkish Private Sector Airlines Companies were able to predict the crisis and what measures were taken to deal with it before, during and after the event.
