Abstract
Instagram kullanıcısı olan üniversite öğrencilerine yönelik geliştirilen bu çalışmada, sosyal medya bağımlılığının belirlenmesi, bu bağımlılığın depresyon ile ilişki düzeyi belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. 370 kişiye uygulanmıştır. Araştırmada demografik bilgi formu, sosyal medya bağımlılık ölçeği ve Beck depresyon ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Bu açıdan söz konusu ölçekler ve değerlendirmeler açısından elde edilen bulgulara yönelik ise geçerli ve güvenilirlik sonuçları, 0,744 ve 0,886 olarak belirlenmiştir. Bu değerler, sonuçların güvenilir olduğunu göstermektedir. Araştırma sonucunda ise sosyal medya bağımlılığı ile cinsiyet, eğitim durumu ve depresyon arasında anlamlı ilişki bulunmuştur ancak sosyal medya bağımlılığı ile yaş, medeni durum ve Instagram'da geçirilen süre arasında anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmamıştır. Araştırmada genel bağlamda, bu yöndeki çalışmalarla bağlantılı incelemeler yapılmıştır.
In this study, which was developed for university students who are Instagram users, it was tried to determine the social media addiction and the level of relationship between this addiction and depression. It was applied to 370 people. Socio-demographic information scale, social media addiction scale and Beck depression scale were used in the study. In this respect, valid and reliability results for the findings obtained in terms of these scales and evaluations were determined as 0.744 and 0.886. These values show that the results are reliable. As a result of the research, within the scope of the data and results obtained, it was determined that the level of Instagram usage of the participants was generally high, and those with mild and moderate depression levels were high. In addition, there is no significant difference between gender, age, marital status, employment status, time spent on Instagram, time to use Instagram, number of Instagram followers of both depression and social media addictions and their subscales. However, although it was not meaningful, evaluation was made between associations. As a result of this research, a significant relationship found between social media addiction and gender, educational status and depression. Although no significant relationship was found between social media addiction and age, marital status and the time spent on Instagram. In the research, in general context, studies related to studies in this direction have been made.
