Abstract

Objective: Condylomata acuminata is a public health issue concerning the majority of the population; especially the young ones. The effect of condylomata acuminata on the patient can vary in different populations related to cultural and social factors. The objective of this study to evaluate the effect of condyloma on quality of life of Turkish male patients. Material and Methods: 78 male patients with condylomata acuminata attending the dermatology outpatient clinic in a tertiary hospital between January 2010-September 2011 were included in the study. The demographic and clinical data of the patients were recorded. The Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) was administered to all patients. Results: The mean age of patients included in the study was 33.46?}9.68 (18-65). The average DLQI score was 8.36?}7.33 and in 61.6% (n=48) of patients dermatologic life quality was affected at least moderately. The total score and the score of the symptoms and feelings subcategory of DLQI was affected more in males who are younger than 40 than older patients. Single patients had higher scores in personal relationship subcategory than married patients. Patients who did not have regular sexual partners had higher scores than who had in personal relationships subcategory than who had. Conclusion: Condylomata acuminata has an effect on quality of life of Turkish male patients.
