Abstract
Danimarka'lı auteur Thomas Vinterberg'in 2020 yılında yönettiği Druk filmi, Orta Çağ dönemi kalıp yargı cinsiyet rollerinin 21. yüzyılda toksik masküleniteye dönüşü bu çalışmanın araştırma konusudur. Orta Çağ'daki şövalyelik konsepti ile Hristiyan kilisenin cinsiyet rollerine etkisi, romans şövalyelik edebiyat eserleri ve sembolleri üzerinden incelenmiştir. Orta Çağ dönemindeki şövalyelik konseptinin ideal erkeklik algısı, 19. yüzyıl Viktorya dönemindeki Viktorya centilmeni ile modern dönemin toksik maskülenlik algısı açıklanmıştır. Avrupa toplumunun sosyo-kültürel bağlamda incelenen kalıp yargı cinsiyet rolleri, Danimarka'lı filozof Kierkegaard'ın anksiyete konsepti ile Alman filozof Nietzsche'nin sürü psikolojisi ve übermensch terimi açıklanmıştır. Orta Çağ'da şövalyeliğin kalıp yargı cinsiyet rollerine etki etmesiyle Viktorya dönemindeki Viktorya centilmenini ortaya çıkarması, 21. yüzyıl modern dönemin erkeklik temasında işlenen toksik maskülen terimini ortaya çıkarmıştır. Druk filminin erkek ana karakterleri üzerinden gösterilen toksik maskülenite algısının, betimsel ve temasal çözümlemesinde araştırdığımız 21. yüzyıl modern dönem erkek bireylerin, Orta Çağ döneminin şövalyesi, Viktorya döneminin Viktorya Centilmeni ile aynı kalıp yargı cinsiyet rollerinde olduğunu filmin analizinde ortaya koyduk. Türkiye'de yapılan bu çalışmada, sinema ve edebiyat alanlarındaki erkeklik çalışmalarının yeterli düzeyde araştırılmadığı ve Thomas Vinterberg'in diğer filmlerinindeki erkeklik temasının incelenmesi gerektiği, cinsiyet rolleri bağlamında önem taşımaktadır.
This study explores the conversion of medieval stereotypical gender roles to toxic masculinity in the 21st century in the film Druk, directed by Danish auteur Thomas Vinterberg in 2020. The concept of chivalry in the Middle Ages and the influence of the Christian church on gender roles were examined through the literary works and symbols of chivalric romance literature. The stereotypical gender roles in the Middle Ages and the perception of masculinity in the 19th-century Victorian era were explained with the notion of Victorian gentlemen. This research scrutinizes the stereotypical gender roles of European Society in a socio-cultural context, which are posited by the Danish philosopher Kierkegaard's concept of anxiety, herd psychology and the term übermensch by German philosopher Nietzsche. The influence of the medieval Church and the concept of chivalry on stereotypical gender roles reveals the emergence of Victorian gentlemen in the 19th century and the perception of toxic masculinity in the 21st-century modern era. Toxic masculinity displayed through the main male characters in Vinterberg's film Druk has been indicated in the descriptive analysis of the film and that the modern male individuals of the 21st century are the same as the knights in the Middle Ages. In this study conducted in Turkey, it has been stated by the researcher that masculinity studies in the field of cinema and literature have not been adequately researched and Vinterberg's other films should be examined through the theme of masculinity.
