Abstract
With the urbanization, and the increase in population that comes with it, the cities became wider and the establishments, such as quarries and mines which drilling and detonations are an ordinary field of work, became integrated with growing cities. Parallel to the urbanization and population increase settlements intertwined with drilling and blasting activities. This situation brought forth the need for controlled detonations, considering the environmental impacts. Based on this need, this study examined the applied detonation based excavations in Tem Medya Merkezi Project and compares non-electric ignition systems with electronic ignition systems through environmental impacts and human reactions. Within the scope of the study, 91 detonations were examined and non-electric ignition systems and electronic ignition systems were compared through taking vibration, air shock values and human perception into consideration.
