Research on the andalusıan module: A case study on Córdoba

Abstract

Bu tez, İspanya'nın Córdoba şehrindeki mimari gelişmeleri araştırmakta ve şehirde ilham verici mimari bir modül oluşturmanın şehri ekonomik ve kültürel açıdan canlandırıp canlandırmayacağı sorusuna yanıt aramaktadır. Endülüs mimari ögelerinin farklı türdeki binalarda kullanımını gösteren çok sayıda örnek analiz edilmiştir, bu yapıların bazıları halen varlığını sürdürürken, bazıları ise çeşitli nedenlerden dolayı kaybolmuştur. Bu Endülüs ögelerinin detaylı bir analizi, önerilen mimari modülün geliştirilmesinde ve sunulmasında kullanılmış olup, bu da tezin odaklandığı konu olmuştur. Major historical events that had occurred in Córdoba throughout its history are described, starting from the Romans, the Moorish Muslims, the Reconquista, and the city's modern history. The dissertation is focused on analyzing the main architectural elements and features of multiple types of buildings that were designed and constructed during those different historical periods. Furthermore, the study includes an overview of the urban planning of Córdoba. The dissertation continues by exploring the influence of the Islamic and Arabic architecture on the Spanish contemporary and modern architectural movements. It describes the surrounding social and political environments that had a clear influence and effect on them. Multiple examples were analyzed to showcase the use of Andalusian architectural elements in different types of buildings, some of which continue to exist, and others were lost due to various factors. The detailed analysis of these Andalusian elements is used to develop and present the proposed architectural module, which is the focal subject of this dissertation. The dissertation concludes with an academic overview on challenges and difficulties experienced during the research, a commentary on availability and accuracy of the data, and provides recommendations to academics and other stakeholders on the implementation of the architectural module to revive the city of Córdoba economically and culturally.
