Abstract
During the production and service to the humanity of mine resources that are needed both by industry and construction of new grand buildings and plants that are the basic news of the modern world parallel to the urbanization and the increase in population, it is known that, like it has been in the past and will be in the future, works of excavation by blastings are inevitable. In order to designate the effects of the blastings on surrounding area, measurements of concussion and air shocks are very important. This paper presents investigation of the environmental effects of ground vibrations caused by blastings in a quarry (KİBSAŞ) that is around the Granulation and Concrete Batching Plant located at Northern Istanbul in Turkey and also evaluate it in terms of damage risk. Within the scope of this study ground vibrations and air shocks produced by these shots have been recorded by means of different ground vibration monitors around the Concrete Plant. Then, the data pairs of scaled distance and peak particle velocity obtained from all records were analysed statistically. At the end of the statistical evaluation of the data pairs, an empirical relation which gives average line at upper bound 95% prediction line with a good correlation coefficient was established between the peak particle velocity and scaled distance. As a result of the studies in these quarries in question, some practical approaches are created in order to minimize the psychological effects of the shots and make the authorities of shots job easier and make sure that the shots in the area will be done in control. In this work, the vibration and air shock measurements of total of 20 blastings in the area in question applied in different times are done by one Instantel Mini Mate Plus Model vibration measuring device and one White Miniseiss vibration measuring device. In terms of research, in order to guess and compare the effect of the concussion measurement results recorded by devices on surrounding buildings; by taking particle velocity compounds and frequency of occurance into consideration, results are evaluated according to T.R.
