Abstract
This thesis study aims to the evaluate effect of demographic information of the patients who have crushing injury of the hand on grip strength during the rehabilitation process after surgery. Total of 50 individuals who were at the age of between 18 and 65 and aplied to Private Tem Hospital Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Unit to take physical therapy. Age, sexuality, dominant hand, smoker/non-smoker, immobilization period were the information collected and recorded via the clinical evaluation form. Number of injured fingers and the status of injury had been recorded after reviewing epicrisis reports of the patients. The relationship between the mentioned data collected by clinical findings before and after treatment and gross grip strength was analyzed. Gross grip strength had been evaluated before and after the treatment by 'jamar hand dynamometer'. When the results of the study were evaluated, it was found that the parameters of age, gender, dominant hand, number of injured fingers and smoking status did not change the gross grip strength of the hand during the rehabilitation process (p>0,05). Statistically negatively significant relationship was found between the changes in the gross grip strength before and after treatment in Jamar measurements and immobilization period (decrease in Jamar measurements as the immobilization period got longer) (r: -0.280; p = 0.049; p <0.05).
