The universe of the descriptive study consists of all surgical nurses who agreed to participate in the study and the sample of the study consists of 220 surgical nurses from the universe who responded to the questions at a signifiance level in terms of the study data. The data of the study were provided by the researcher using the 'Nurse Data Form' and the 'Patient Advocacy Scale for Nurses' prepared according to the literature on the socio-demographic characteristics of nurses. The data found in the research were analyzed using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) for Windows 25.0 and DataBeeg 1.0 programs. As a result of the research it was determined that the patient advocacy level of surgical nurses was high (170.01±2.06). It has been determined there are significant differences in the use of the patient advocacy role in patient care according to age, education level, whether one chooses the profession because one likes it, length of time working in the profession, whether one has received training in the patient advocacy role and whether one thinks that the patient advocacy role should be used actively. Tanımlayıcı türde olan araştırmanın evrenini, araştırmaya katılmayı kabul eden tüm cerrahi hemşireleri, araştırmanın örneklemini ise evrenin içerisinden çalışmanın verileri yönünden anlamlılık seviyesinde yanıtlayan 220 cerrahi hemşire oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın verileri araştırmacı tarafından hemşirelerin sosyo-demografik özelliklerinin bulunduğu literatüre göre hazırlanan 'Hemşire Veri Formu' ve 'Hemşireler için Hasta Savunuculuk Ölçeği' ile sağlanmıştır. Araştırmada bulunan veriler SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) for Windows 25.0 ve DataBeeg 1.0 programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonucunda cerrahi hemşirelerinin hasta savunuculuk düzeyinin yüksek olduğu belirlenmiştir (170.01±2.06). Hasta savunuculuk rolünün hasta bakımında kullanımının yaş, eğitim durumu, mesleği severek seçme durumu, meslekte çalışma süresi, hasta savunuculuk rolüne yönelik eğitim alma durumu, hasta savunuculuk rolünün aktif kullanılması gerektiğini düşünme durumuna göre anlamlı farklılıklar olduğu belirlenmiştir.
