Bu amaç doğrultusunda, öncelikle Türk müziğinin tarihçesi, ilk çokseslendirme denemeleri ve Cumhuriyet sonrası çalışmalar aktarılmış, sonra bu alanda en önemli yapı taşı, öncü olarak kabul edilen büyük besteci Saygun'un hayatı, yaşadığı dönemin özelliği ve tarihi önemi belirtilerek, Türk müziğinin işlenmesi ve çokseslendirilmesi konusunda getirdiği yenilikler ele alınmıştır. Tezin ana konusu olan Saygun'un iki solo piyano eserinin armonik, yapısal ve piyano tekniği açısından önemi ve 20. Yüzyıl müziğindeki yeri örneklerle açıklanmıştır. Tezin son aşamasında, bestecinin teori çalışmaları üzerinden armonik yaklaşımının, doğu-batı sentezinde getirdiği yeniliklerin ve yarattığı ekolün özellikleri belirtilmiş ve bu ekolün temsilcileri olan yeni kuşak besteciler ile görüşülerek Saygun'un dehasının vurgulanması amaçlanmıştır. Anahtar Kelimeler : Saygun, çokseslilik, armoni, tonalite, modalite, sentezANALYSIS OF TWO SOLO PIANO WORKS OF AHMED ADNAN SAYGUN IN THE CONTEXT OF POLYPHONY OF TURKISH MUSIC This thesis aims to provide an overview of the polyphonicisation methods of Turkish music through the life and career of Ahmed Adnan Saygun, one of the First Generation Composers of the Republican Era, also known as the Turkish Five, as well as his solo piano works, and to reveal Saygun's innovations and developments in this field. For this purpose, firstly the history of Turkish music, the first polyphonicisation attempts and the post-Republican studies are presented, then the life of the great composer Saygun, who is regarded as the most important building block and pioneer in this field, the characteristics and historical importance of the period he lived in, and the innovations he brought in the processing and polyphony of Turkish music are discussed. The main subject of the thesis, Saygun's two solo piano pieces, their importance in terms of harmonic, formal and piano technique and their place in 20th century music are explained with examples. In the last part of the thesis, the characteristics of the composer's harmonic approach through his theoretical works, the innovations he brought in the east-west synthesis and the characteristics of the school he created are stated and it is aimed to emphasize Saygun's genius by interviewing the new generation of composers who are the representatives of this school.
