Master Thesis Hemşirelerin psikososyal bakım yetkinlikleri ve duygu ifade becerileri arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesi(2023) Toluk, Murat; Alagöz, EceIn this research, the importance of psychosocial care, nurses' psychosocial care competencies, and expression of emotions were closely examined. Additionally, the aim was to determine the relationship between nurses' psychosocial care competencies and their abilities to express emotions. The research is a cross-sectional study conducted with nurses working at the Istanbul University Health Sciences Bağcılar Training and Research Hospital on the European side of Istanbul. Data were collected using a 'Sociodemographic Information Form,' 'Psychosocial Care Competency SelfAssessment Scale,' and 'Emotion Expression Skills Scale.' It was found that 70.93% of the participants were female, 46.26% were in the 20-25 age group, 67.84% were single, and 78.85% had a bachelor's degree. The total score average for the Psychosocial Care Competency Self-Assessment Scale was 3.83±0.71, and for the Emotion Expression Skills Scale, it was 4.89±0.75. A positive but low-level significant relationship was found between nurses' scores on the 'Positive Expression of Emotions' sub-scale of the Emotion Expression Skills Scale and the 'Symptom Recognition,' 'Utilization of Knowledge,' and 'Intervention' sub-scales of the Psychosocial Care Competency SelfAssessment Scale. Similarly, a positive but low-level significant relationship was found between nurses' scores on the 'Negative Expression of Emotions' sub-scale of the Emotion Expression Skills Scale and the 'Symptom Recognition' and 'Utilization of Knowledge' sub-scales of the Psychosocial Care Competency Self-Assessment Scale. In conclusion, it was determined that nurses' psychosocial care competencies are associated with their expression of emotions. It is thought that an improvement in nurses' expression of emotions could also enhance their psychosocial care competencies.
