Abstract
This research is a descriptive and relationship-seeking study conducted to examine adults' fear of COVID-19 and their attitudes towards complementary and alternative medicine. 615 adults over 18 years of age were included in the study. The research was carried out on-line through social networking sites, and the data were obtained between September 2021 and December 2021 after the approval of the ethics committee. Data; The Patient Information Form was collected with the COVID-19 Fear Scale and the Attitudes towards Holistic Complementary and Alternative Medicine Scale. Descriptive statistical methods, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis, Dunn-Bonferroni, Pearson correlation tests were used in the analysis of the data. While interpreting the results, p <0.05 was accepted as the level of significance. The average age of the adults participating in the study was 35.96±9.59 years, % 62,6of them female and %37,4 of them male. The total scores of the fear of COVID-19 scale ranged from 7 to 35, with an average of 17.84±6.39, while the internal consistency levels of the items forming the scale were found to be 0.890. The total scores of CTAS ranged from 11 to 55, with an average of 25.05±5.82, while the internal consistency levels of the items constituting the scale were found to be 0.701. The mean score of the Holistic Health (BS) sub-dimension of the Attitudes towards Holistic Complementary and Alternative Medicine Scale was 9.16±2.87 (Min=5; Max=26), and the internal consistency coefficient of the items constituting the scale was 0.632. The mean score of the Complementary Alternative Medicine (CAM) sub-dimension of the Integrative Complementary and Alternative Medicine Scale was 15.90±4.17 (Min=6; Max=36), and the internal consistency coefficient of the items forming the scale was determined to be 0.633. As a result, it was determined that there was a statistically significant positive correlation between the COVID-19 Fear Scale total scores and the WHO Holistic health sub-dimension scores (r=0.084, p=0.037).
