Abstract
Bu çalışma, hastaların erkek hemşirelere bakiş açısını değerlendirmek amacı ile tanımlayıcı olarak yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini Kasım 2016–Mayıs 2017 tarihleri arasında İstanbul Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Çapa Hastanesi İç Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı Kliniklerinde yatmakta olan hastalar 5090, çalışmaya katılmayı kabul eden, çalışma kriterlerine uyan 384 hasta da örneklemi oluşturmuştur. Veriler araştırmacı tarafından literatüre uygun hazırlanan anket formu ile toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde, SPSS 22,0 paket programı, verilerin değerlendirilmesinde frekans, yüzdelik dağılım ve ki-kare kullanıldı. Araştırma kapsamına alınan hastaların %55,2'sinin erkek, %52,1'inin 57 yaş ve üzeri olduğu saptandı. Hastaların %87,8'i hemşirelik mesleğinde erkeklerinde hizmet verdiğini bildiğini, %87,5'i hemşireliğin hem kadınların, hem de erkeklerin yapacağı bir meslek olduğunu, %76'sı hemşirelerin uygulamalardaki başarılarının cinsiyetten daha önemli bulduğunu, %47,7'si erkek hemşirelerin hastane ortamında her serviste çalışabileceğini ve %61,2'si erkek hemşirelerin mesleği geliştireceğini ifade etti. Ayrıca hastalar erkek hemşirelerin sağlık hizmetinde %98,9'unun yönetici, %92,1'inin eğitimci, %91,9'unun araştırmacı, %84,1'inin uygulayıcı rollünde görev almalarını belirtti. Araştırmada, hastaların erkek hemşirelere bakış açısı ile ilgili önermeler ile bazı sosya demografik özellikler arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı ilişki bulundu (p<0,05). Hastalar tarafından erkek hemşirelerin büyük oranda kabul görüldüğü, hemşirelik mesleğinin cinsiyet ayrımcılığından uzaklaştığı ve hastaların erkek hemşirelere bakış açısı genel olarak pozitif yönde olduğu bulundu. This is a descriptive study which aimed to assess the perspectives of the patients on male nurses. The population of the study consisted of 5090 inpatients who stayed in the Clinics of Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine Çapa Hospital Department of Internal Diseasesduring November 2016 and May 2017. The study sample consisted of 384 patients who were compatible with the study criteria and who agreed to participate the study. Data was collected using the interview form that was prepared by the researcher as applicable to the literature. SPSS 22.0 package was used to analyze the data and frequency, percentage distribution and chi-square were used to assess the data. It was determined that of the patients who were in the scope of the study55.2% were male and 52.1% were above 57 years of age. 87.8% of the patients stated that they knew males also served in the nursing profession, 87.5% stated that they knew nursing was a profession for both women and men, 76% stated that theyfound the achievements of nurses more important than sex, 47.7% stated that male nurses could work in any service at the hospital environment and 61.2% stated that male nurses would develop the profession.In addition, the patients stated that 98.9% of the male nurses served as researchers, 91.9% as trainers and 84.1% as practitionersin healthcare service. It was found in this study that there was statistically significant relation between the perspectives of the patients on male nurses and certain socio-demographic attributes (p<0.05). Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that male nurses were accepted by the patients to a large extent, the nursing profession moved away from sexual discrimination and the perspectives of the patients on male nurses were generally positive.
