Conference Object Citation Count: 0Evaluation of sustainability concept in land use planning through green space decisions(2013) Bostanci,S.H.; Ozdemir,B.Green areas are effective cross sections to the understanding of sustainable urban plans. The amount of green areas and their diversity give an important knowledge about quality of life and ecological planning. In this research, 1/1000 scaled master plans of ten districts in Istanbul-Turkey are examined for their green areas and their plan legend diversities with the help of MS Office Excel software. Although Turkish Land Development Laws describe the size of the green areas as m2 per person, it does not give any description about green area regularities, planning and distributions. Besides, green area usage is a featured subject in Plan Production Regulation which is in draft process. So this study becomes important as being in the agenda of Turkey's sustainable development. Therefore, the aim of this study is evaluation of green area land use and legend diversities in master planning process. And a systematical hierarchy classification in green dimensions of master plans has been prepared as a proposal by using GIS. © SGEM2013 All Rights Reserved by the International Multidisciplinary Scientific GeoConference SGEM.Article Citation Count: 5The impacts of prestige projects on the skyline of Istanbul(ArchNet, 2013) Akdaǧ,S.G.; Bostanci,S.H.The concept of prestige projects for cities is related to governments' politics and visions. Under the effects of globalization, central and local authorities have constructedcompetitive cities. But these cities also have important historical qualities hence theseprocesses have to be made by a holistic planning vision and conservation strategy. Forinstance, if a city waterfront skyline has a strong image; new constructions should bedesigned in harmony with the local topography and urban pattern. This paper is based onmathematical and computer based approaches for evaluating aesthetic qualities of cityskylines. Therefore a case study on high rise buildings in the main prestige CBD ofIstanbul is done. GIS models of Maslak-Zincirlikuyu axis is made and its past, presentand future skylines are extracted by database querying and visual analysis. The skylinesderived are finally measured by entropy analyses based on formal aestheticcharacteristics. © 2013 Archnet-IJAR, International Journal of Architectural Research.Book Part Citation Count: 1Influence of urban furniture design on environmental behavior(Peter Lang AG, 2018) Bostanci,S.H.; Demirtaş,P.Ö.[No abstract available]Conference Object Citation Count: 1The role of municipalities as a tool in teaching for urban planning education(2013) Bostanci,S.H.Municipalities are the main application areas for urban planners in Turkey.
