    YouTube™ video content analysis on space maintainers

    Since it is difficult to understand by patients or parents, YouTube™ videos can be used to describe space maintainers. However, the reliability and quality of the information in the YouTube™ videos about space maintainers have not been investigated. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to examine the quality of information provided on YouTube™ about space maintainers. Materials and Methods: Videos were searched on YouTube™ using the key words of 'space maintainers' in the Google Trends application. From the first 120 results, after discarding the ones immediately deemed insufficient, 46 videos were selected for analysis. To classify the video content as high or low, a scoring system formed of seven parameters was used. For a global evaluation of the video quality, the video information and quality index were applied. Data obtained were analyzed statistically using the independent t-test, the Mann-Whitney U-test, and the Chi-square test, and the Pearson correlation coefficient was calculated. Results: The quality of the content of videos was found to be mean 2.89 from a maximum of seven points, with 15 (32.6%) videos determined to be of high quality and 31 (67.4%) of low quality. The 'likes' index was higher in the high-quality videos (P < 0.05). No statistically significant difference was determined between the groups responsible for uploading videos to YouTube™ in respect of the quality content (P > 0.05). Conclusion: The content quality of videos on YouTube™ about space maintainers is usually low. High-quality content expected from videos uploaded by specialists/dental practitioners was not provided compared to other groups. © 2020 Journal of Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry.

    Hareketli ortodontikapareyler ile ilgiliyoutube™ videolarınıniçerik analizi

    Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı hareketli ortodontik apareyler hakkında bilgi almak isteyen hastalar için sosyal medyada sunulan bilgilerin kalitesini incelemektir.Gereç ve Yöntem: YouTube ™’ da Google Trends uygulamasıyla "removable orthodontic appliance" anahtar kelimesini kullanarak ilgili videolar aratıldı. 75 sonuçtan yetersiz olanlar çıkarıldıktan sonra analiz edilmek üzere 28 video seçildi. Video içerik kalitesini düşük ve yüksek olarak sınıflandırmak için 7 parametreden oluşan bir puanlama sistemi kullanıldı. Videoların kalitesini evrensel olarak değerlendirmek için video bilgileri ve kalite indeksi (VBKİ) uygulandı. İstatiksel değerlendirmede Student t-testi, Mann-Whitney U-testi, Chi-square testi ve Pearson korelasyon katsayısı hesaplandı.Bulgular: YouTube ™’ a yüklenen videoların içerik kalitesi 7 puan üzerinden ortalama 2,82 puan ve videoların 22 (%78,6)’i düşük içerikli, 6 (%21,4)’i ise yüksek içerikli olarak bulundu. Apareylerin kullanım prosedürleri videolarda en çok bahsedilen konulardı (%78,6). Apareylerin uygulanma zamanı, uygulama yöntemi, yararları ve kullanım önerilerine yüksek içerikli grupta daha sık değinilmişti (p<,05). Yüksek içerikli videolar görüntülenme yüzdesi açısından ise bir üstünlüğe sahip değildi (p>,05). YouTube ™’ a hareketli ortodontik apareylerle ilgili video yükleyenlerin yükledikleri videoların içerik kalitesi karşılaştırıldığında istatistiksel bir fark ortaya çıkmadı (p>,05). Sonuç: Hareketli ortodontik apareyler arama terimi YouTube ™’da aratıldığında çıkan sonuçların birçoğu yetersiz olduğundan bilgiye ulaşmak zorlaşmaktır. Hareketli ortodontik apareylerle ilgili YouTube ™ videoların genellikle içerik kalitesi düşüktür. Yüksek içerikli videoları yüklemesi beklenen uzman/diş hekimleri içerik açısından diğer gruplara bir üstünlük sağlayamamıştır. Klinisyenler sosyal medya ve YouTube ™’un bilgilendirici özelliğini değerlendirmeli ve daha yüksek içerikli videolar üretmelidir.

    Synthesis of Silver Mono- and Di-Carboxylates and Investigation of their Usage Possibility in Textiles as an Antibacterial Agent

    The study aims to examine the antibacterial efficiency of cotton fabrics loaded with silver cyclo hexane mono or di carboxylates (silver naphthenates). After the synthesis of silver naphthenates, their chemical structures were analysed with spectrophotometric methods (IR and NMR). Then the usage possibility of Ag naphthenates as an antibacterial agent in the finishing of cotton fabrics was investigated. Their antimicrobial activity against three gram-negative (Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumonia, Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and three gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Enterococcus faecalis) bacteria were studied. The stability of the antibacterial effect after repeated washings (1-5-10-20) was also tested.

    Parallelization of bitonic sort and radix sort algorithms on many core GPUs

    Data sorting is used in many fields and plays an important role in defining the overall speed and performance. There are - many sorting categories. In this study, two of these sorting algorithms that are bitonic sort and radix sort are dealt with. We have designed and developed Radix Sort and Bitonic Sort algorithms for many core Graphics Processing Units (GPUs). Although bitonic sort is a concurrent sorting algorithm, radix sort is a distribution sorting algorithm, i.e. both of these algorithms are not usual sorting algorithms. They can be parallelized on GPUs easily to get better performance than other sorting algorithms. We parallelized these sorting algorithms on many core GPUs using the Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) platform, developed by NVIDIA Corporation and got some performance measurements. © 2013 IEEE.
