Abstract
This research was carried out to determine the attitudes of women over the age of 40 and the factors affecting fertility. The descriptive and cross-sectional type of research was held between May 2020-December 2020 with 242 women who can agree. The data were obtained with the demographic data form and the Women's Attitudes Towards Fertility Scale (IACS). Number, percentage, mean, standard deviation, median, minimum, maximum, t test, Anova test, Kruskall-Wallis test and sperman correlation analysis were used to evaluate the data. The mean score of the participants 'negative effect on life of having a child on life' was 21.40 ± 6.62; 'Positive effect of having children on life' sub-dimension mean score is 27.29 ± 7.71; Sub-dimension mean score of 'complex thoughts about becoming a mother' was 14.47 ± 2.95. It was found that the 'negative effect of having a child on life' sub-dimension mean score of women who graudated university and had work were higher and 'positive effect of having a child on life' sub-dimension mean score of women who primary school and had no work were higher (p< 0.05). It was found that the scores of 'complex thoughts about being a mother' sub-dimension mean score and scale total score average women with children, women who had pregnancy twice, received FP services, used modern methods, and stated that they did not use any method for other reasons were higher (p <0.05). It was found that the 'negative effect of having a child on life' sub-dimension mean score of women who gave the answer ideal gestational age30 and over were higher (p <0.05). It has been determined that the age of women does not affect their attitudes towards fertility (p<0.05). As a result of the study, it is recommended to continue effective family planning counseling for women over the age of 40 and to ensure that they access services. Keywords: Fertility, Attitude, Age of 40, Woman.
