İnfertil kadın ve erkeklerin infertilite stresi ve eş destek düzeyleri arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesi
Abstract
This research was carried out to find out the relationship between infertility stress and spousal support levels of infertile men and women. The sample of the descriptive study consisted of 150 infertile individuals, 75 women and 75 men, who applied to a public hospital in Istanbul for infertility treatment between 1 May and 30 August 2021.The data of the survey were obtained with the introductory questionnaire form, the Infertility Stress Scale and the Spouse Support Scale. The mean age of the participating women was 38,44±5,11 years, while that of the men was 40,38±5,25. It was determined that 36% of the participants received infertility treatment for 1-3 years, 42.7% of them applied assisted reproductive technique for the first time, 34.7% of them were male-induced, and 58% had previous unsuccessful treatment experience. Of the participant men and women, 79.3% stated that they needed psychological support, 48% stated that there was no one who provided them with psychological support, and 48.7% wanted to continue treatment until they had a child. Within the scope of the research, it was determined that the total scores and support levels of the women's 'emotional support', 'appreciation support', 'social interest support' and 'Spousal Support Scale' were higher than those of the men (p<0,05). In addition, it was found out that women's 'stress in the personal area', 'stress in the marriage area' and 'Infertility Stress Scale' total scores were higher than men's, and on the other hand, men's 'social stress' scores were higher than women's (p<0,05). A moderate negative correlation was found between the Spousal Support Scale and the Infertility Stress Scale total scores, that is, as the spouse support levels of men and women increased, infertility stress levels decreased (p<0,05).It is recommended that nurses and midwives working with infertile individuals determine the stress and spousal support levels of the couples, and then include practices aimed at reducing stress and increasing spousal support in the treatment process.
