In recent years, there has been a significant surge in the study of Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs). The primary aim of VANET applications is to enhance road safety and reduce mortality rates. One intriguing aspect of VANET routing for high-speed nodes is its capacity to drive rapid development, leading to frequent changes in network topologies and swift packet movement. The selection of appropriate routing protocols in the VANET environment is crucial. The paper comprehensively addresses VANET connectivity, research initiatives, and routing protocols, while scrutinizing their advantages, disadvantages, and applications. It emphasizes the critical role of vehicular nodes in delivering real-time, high-QoS services. The study concludes with a thorough comparison against conventional methods for clear evaluation. © 2023 IEEE.en_US
