Abstract
The aim of this study is to evaluate the healthy lifestyle behaviors of women with Metabolic Syndrome. 271 women who has metabolic syndrome were included in the study. The data were collected with the Patient Information Form and Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile (HPLP). The data were analysed with SPSS version 24.0. The average age of the patients was found that 33.66±9.23 years, 79% of the patients were married, 66.4% were university graduates and above. The chronic disease rate of patients were 14.8%, smoking and alcohol usage rates were 18.1% and 11.8%, respectively. The rate of patients who do not do exercise at all was 21.4% average. 62.4% of patients were using drugs regularly. 95.2% of patients have information about metabolic syndrome. The total score of the healthy lifestyle behavior scale in patients is 132.49±1.07. Health responsibility subscale score 24.23±0.26, physical activity subscale score 17.49±0.27, nutrition subscale score 23.48±0.22, spiritual development subscale score 22.89±0.23, interpersonal relations score was 24.82±0.23 and stress management score was 19.56±0.20. There was a statistically significant difference between the presence of chronic disease and Physical activity subscale score (p≤0.05). There was a statistically significant difference between mean scores of stress management according to alcohol usage status (p≤0.05). Physical activity was also found to be related to exercise status in patients (p≤0.05). A statistically significant correlation of total HPLP, physical activity, interpersonal relationships, and stress management was found between patients with and without medication using (p≤0.05). In general, it was seen that the patients with HPLP and its sub-dimension scores are at average levels.
