Abstract
This research was carried out to determine eating attitudes and healthy lifestyle behaviors of university students and to determine the eating attitude factors. The study was carried out between June 2017 and October 2017 at a private university Health Sciences Faculty in Istanbul in the departments of nutrition and dietetics (140), nursing (36), child development (47), physiotherapy and rehabilitation (87) and it was carried out on 339 healthy individuals. The research data were collected by applying a face-to-face questionnaire and using the socio-demographic data form, the Eating Attitudes Test (EAT), and the Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors (SDBD) scale in which participants' demographic and personal characteristics were assessed. The average age of the individuals was found to be 21.57 ± 2.45 years and Body Mass Index (BMI) values was found to be 22,05 ± 3,80 kg / m2. There was a statistically significant relationship between the body mass index classification and the individual's university departments. While 12,3% of the women participating in the study; 6.4% of the men who participated in the study had an eating disorder; 87.7% of the women and 93.6% of the men did not have any eating disorders. A statistically significant difference was found in terms of average scores of health responsibility subscale scores according to the eating attitude test scores of the individuals (p: 0,012). A statistically significant difference was found in the average of physical activity subscale scores according to Eating Attitude Test scores (p <0.001). There was a statistically significant difference in nutrition subscale scores according to Eating Attitude Test scores (p: 0,001). There was a statistically significant difference between the participants' eating attitude scores in terms of healthy lifestyle behaviors scale total point averages.
