Abstract
This research aims to examine the relationship between the quality of life, self-esteem, and depression levels of individuals with SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) and compare them to healthy individuals. The research is a quantitative study, and a convenient (easy) sampling method was used in selecting the participants. For this purpose, a total of 169 individuals participated in the research, consisting of 169 individuals diagnosed with SMA Type 2 and Type 3, aged 18 and above, who were randomly selected and residing within the borders of Turkey, as well as healthy individuals. Data were collected through an online platform using the 'Informed Consent Form, Personal Information Form, Nottingham Health Profile (NHP), Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI).' The analysis of the data was conducted using the SPSS 25.0 package program. According to the research results, The quality of life for people with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) differs significantly compared to the quality of life for healthy people, the self-esteem of people with SMA differs significantly according to the severity of self-esteem that can be healthy, the quality of life for people with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) varies significantly depending on whether they are healthy or not. It is seen that there is a significant difference according to the level, there is a positive relationship between the quality of life and self-esteem of people with SMA and a negative relationship between the quality of life and endurance, and the difference between the quality of life and self-esteem in individuals with spinal muscular atrophy is a significant predictor. . These findings have been discussed in comparison with various publications in the literature.
