Abstract
The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between the attachment dimensions of individuals aged between 18-30 in a romantic relationship with obsessive-compulsive disorder. The secondary aim of the study is to investigate whether attachment dimensions and OCD symptoms differ according to demographic factors. The target population of the research in question consists of individuals between the ages of 18-30, living in Istanbul, who have been in a romantic relationship for at least 6 months (dating, committed relationship, engaged, married). The sample group consists of 419 (n=419) people, 303 female participants and 116 male participants, who voluntarily agreed to participate in the research. In the data collection phase of the study, firstly, the 'Informed Consent Form' was applied to obtain the consent of the participants, followed by the 'Socio-Demographic Information Form', 'Inventory of Experiences in Close Relationships II' and the 'Maudsley Obsessive-Compulsive Inventory'. In the analysis of the research, descriptive statistics, Independent Sample T-Test, One-Way ANOVA and Pearson Correlation analysis were used. Data analysis was done using the SPSS program. As a result of the findings, it was concluded that there is a positive and significant relationship between obsessive-compulsive disorder symptoms that individuals exhibit in their daily lives with anxious and avoidant attachment styles. In addition, individuals with an anxious attachment style exhibit more obsessive-compulsive disorder symptoms in their daily lives than individuals with an avoidant attachment style. The results obtained in the research were discussed within the scope of the literature.
