Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and insomnia severity in high-risk pregnant women. The sample of the descriptive and cross-sectional study consisted of 169 pregnant women who were hospitalized in the perinatology service of a Gynecology and Children's hospital on the Anatolian side of İstanbul between the dates between March –May 2022. Data were obtained by demographic questionnaire, Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale (BTÖ-12) and Insomnia Severity Index. The mean score of the sub-dimension 'anxiety about the future' of pregnant women was 22.35±5.02; The mean of the sub-dimension of 'inhibitory anxiety' was 15.53±3.94 and the mean total score of the scale was 37.89±8.30. The mean score of the Insomnia Severity Index of the pregnant women is 18.48±4.18. There was a low level of positive correlation between the BTÖ-12 total score of the pregnant women and the severity of insomnia (p<0.05). This study shows that as the level of intolerance to uncertainty increases in high-risk pregnant women, the severity of insomnia also increases. As a result of the research, it is recommended that nurses and midwives question the level of intolerance to uncertainty and the severity of insomnia in the follow-up of high-risk pregnant women and inform the pregnant women about what they need.
