Covid-19 pandemi döneminde okul çağı çocuklarının beslenme alışkanlıklarındaki değişikliklerin incelenmesi
Abstract
This study was carried out among parents of 7-12 years old school-age children to determine the changing dietary habits of school-age children, aged between 7–12-year-old, who stayed away from their formal education and moved away from their usual behaviors during the Covid-19 pandemic process. It was conducted as a cross-sectional-descriptive analysis-based survey study between April 2021 and August 2021. In order to examine the changing dietary habits during the Covid-19 pandemic period, 400 parents with children between the ages of 7-12 who agreed to participate in the study were included in the study. In the study, a questionnaire including an introductory information form, changing dietary habits during the pandemic, and a child nutrition questionnaire was applied. In the analysis comparing the body weights of children before and during the pandemic, a significant increase of 12.1% was observed. In the comparison analysis before and during the pandemic, it was observed that there was an average of 2.6% increase in the BMI values of the children. Based on these results, it is thought that school-age children and their parents may have deficiencies in their knowledge levels about healthy nutrition. It is recommended to provide more education, conferences, notice support so that school-age children and their parents can become more conscious about nutrition, both to take precautions for future epidemics and to build healthy societies.
