dc.description.abstract | Design is not only an economic development tool, but also an area that directs people's and societies' lifestyles and requires a creative education process. Especially primary and secondary school education is a very important learning and self-discovery process for the youth in terms of research, information gathering, problem-solving, creativity, art, design and technology. At this stage, planning of creativity and design education in schools is important. This study addresses the contribution of design and technology lectures in primary and secondary education to design awareness and design education, and the education programs organized by Design Museums. In the first part, the content and methods of design and technology course will be examined. In the second part, the educational function of the museum will be discussed and the design museum and its creativity training will be examined. Britain, where the path for the design was cleared with the Industrial Revolution, was chosen as the case study. Design education in primary and secondary education in Britain are reviewed and the contribution of the education programs organized by the London Design Museum on design education in schools is analyzed through examples. © Peter Lang AG 2019. | en_US |
