Abstract
This study aims to evaluate the acute effects of kinesiotaping on pain, menstrual symptoms, fear of movement, and sleep quality in women experiencing primary dysmenorrhea. Kinesiotaping was applied to 19 of the 38 young women included in the study, and sham (placebo) kinesiotaping was applied to the other 19 for control purposes. With the Pain Visual Analogue Scale (VAS); Information about menstruation was obtained with the Menstrual Symptom Scale and the Menstruation Attitude Scale; Fear of movement with Tampa Kinesiophobia Scale; Sleep quality was assessed with the Richard Campbell Sleep Scale. No difference was observed in the acute effect of kinesiotaping on menstrual symptoms and fear of movement after treatment (p>0.05). It was concluded that kinesiotaping was effective in reducing pain and improving sleep quality in primary dysmenorrhea (p<0.05). The results of the study reveal that kinesiotaping can be considered an effective alternative in the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea.
