Abstract
21.yüzyılın aşırı kalabalık, birbirine benzeyen, yapılaşması çirkin, insan ölçeğindenuzak, kimliksiz, içinde yaşayanların kendilerini yabancı hissettikleri, kimsenin sahip çıkmadığı kentleri, birer sorun oluşturmakta ve çözüm beklemektedir. Bu sorunları en şiddetli biçimde yaşayan kesim, kuşkusuz yoğun nüfusun barındığı ve sanayi kuruluşları bakımından zengin kentlerin insanlarıdır.İstanbul Metropoliten Kenti, genel olarak artan nüfusun yanında kırsal alanlardan gelen nüfus göçü ve son yıllarda hızlanan konut inşaatları yeni yerleşim yerlerininaçılmasına yol açmaktadır. Bu süreç içerisinde kent hızla genişlemekte ve bir yandangecekondu mahalleleri, diğer taraftan lüks villa siteleri, büyük ve çok katlı yapılar,geniş yollar ve sanayi kuruluşlarıyla belirgin bir değişime uğramaktadır. Bu değişimebağlı olarak kent, kuzeye doğru gelişme göstermekte ve doğal ortamlar üzerindebaskı oluşturmaktadır. Anahtar Kelimeler: Kentleşme, Kentlileşme, İstanbul
21st century's overcrowded, lookalike cities, which have rather unpleasant development, no identity, are away from the human scale, and not protected by anyone, and in which people feel like strangers, remain a problem awaiting solution. Undoubtedly, these problem are most intensely experienced by people living in cities which high population density and high number of industrial enterprises. In the Metropolitan City of Istanbul, in addition to the growing population in general, population migration from rural areas and increasing residential conctruction activities in recent yerars leads to the opening of new settlement areas. Within this process, the City rapidly expands and undergoes an evident change with slum areas on one hand and housing estates consisting of luxury villas, large and multistorey buildings, highways and industrial enterprises on the other. The city expands towards the north as a consequence of this change, and creates pressure on habitats. Keywords:Urbanization, Urbanizing, İstanbul
