COVID-19 pandemi döneminde ortopedi ameliyatı geçiren hastaların coronavirüse karşı korku ve kaygı düzeylerinin değerlendirilmesi
Abstract
This research was conducted to evaluate the fear and anxiety levels of patients who underwent orthopedic surgery during the COVID-19 pandemic period. The sample of this descriptive study consisted of 360 patients in a hospital in Istanbul between 09.06.2021 and 29.10.2021. Research data were collected using the patient information form, the Covid-19 Fear Scale and the Coronavirüs Anxiety Scale. In the analysis of the data, Mann Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis test and correlation test were used as well as descriptive statistics. The mean age of the patients participating in the study was 43.59± years, 63.9% of them were 51 years old and over, 53.9% were male, 30% were high school graduates, 25.8% were self-employed and 61.1% of them were found to be married. 59.2% of the patients were hospitalized with an appointment/scheduled, 86.7% had an operation in the minor category, 46.1% were hospitalized for 1-3 days, 55% were vaccinated and It was determined that 75.3 of them did not have the situation of experiencing Covid-19 in their surroundings or in themselves. It was found that the patients got 20.08±6.86 points from the Covid-19 Fear Scale and 8.01±3.37 points from the Coronavirüs Anxiety Scale. Statistically significant differences were found between the groups taken from the Covid-19 Fear and Coronavirüs Anxiety Scale according to the gender, age group, education level, employment status and marital status of the patients within the scope of the study (p<0.05). It was determined that there were statistically significant differences between the groups in the mean score of the Coronavirüs Anxiety Scale according to the type of surgery and the Covid-19 life (self or relative) status of the patients (p<0.05). The Covid-19 Fear Scale and Coronavirüs Anxiety Scale scores were found to be higher in patients who were not vaccinated. A statistically significant, positive and moderate correlation was found between the patients' Covid-19 Fear and Coronavirüs Anxiety Scale (p<0.05). As a result of the research, it was found that the patients' Covid-19 Fear and Coronavirüs Anxiety were moderate. It is recommended to repeat the research with different variables in a larger sample.
