Abstract
The aim of the present study is to reveal the relationship between motivational factors and work performance among the staff working in civil aviation ground services in Istanbul, where civil aviation activities are carried out intensively. The population of the study consists of the staff working in the operations, passenger services and ramp departments of civil aviation ground services operating in two airports in Istanbul. At the time of the survey, 189 employees were included in the study except for those who were actively employed, on sick leave or off work and refused to participate. The data of this cross-sectional and descriptive study were collected by administering a questionnaire form including sociodemographic characteristics, motivational factors scale and work performance scale. A statistically significant relationship was found between the educational level of the employees and the mean ranks of organizational-administrative motivators (P <0.05). A positive, moderate correlation was found between the mean scores of the psycho-social motivating factors of the employees and the work performance mean scores (r: 0.362). It is suggested that the implementation of various psycho-social, organizational-administrative and economic motivating practices for the employees will contribute immeasurably to the objectives of the enterprise.
