Abstract
Bu çalışma, yetişkin bireylerin COVID-19 sürecinde besin takviyelerini kullanım durumları ve yeterli beslenme düzeylerinin belirlenmesini amaçlamıştır. Araştırma, Aralık 2020 – Mart 2021 tarihleri aralığında özel bir beslenme danışmanlığı merkezine başvuran 18 – 65 yaş arası 174 birey ile yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada bireylerin sosyodemografik özellikleri, beslenme alışkanlıkları ve antropometrik ölçümlerine yönelik soruları içeren bir bilgi formu, diyet kalitesinin değerlendirilmesi amacıyla Sağlıklı Yeme İndeksi (SYİ-2015), yeme tutumunu ölçmek için Yeme Tutum Testi (YTT), bireylerin ortorektik eğilimini belirlemek için ORTO-11 testi, anksiyete durumlarının belirlenmesinde Beck Anksiyete Ölçeği (BAÖ) ve üç günlük besin tüketim kaydı formu katılımcılara uygulanmıştır. Araştırmaya yaş ortalaması 41,29 ± 12,21 yıl olan 135 kadın, 39 erkek, toplam 174 yetişkin birey katılmıştır. Katılımcıların %32,2'si COVID-19 süresi boyunca herhangi bir besin desteği tüketmiş olup kadınlarda tüketim erkeklerden daha fazladır (p>0,05). Katılımcıların çoğunlukla multivitamin (%58,9), D (%39,2) ve C vitaminlerini (%25,0) tükettikleri ve çoğunluğun (%67,9) günde 2 kere takviye aldığı gözlenmiştir. Katılımcıların %60,7'i besin desteğini sağlıklı olmak için, %30,4'ü zayıflamak ve formda kalmak için, %8,9'u da yağ yakıp kas yapmak için tükettiklerini belirtmişlerdir. Katılımcıların çoğunluğunun (%57,5) daha önce beslenme ile ilgili herhangi bir eğitim almadığı görülürken, beslenme ile ilgili alınan bilgi/eğitimin %67,6'inin diyetisyen, %14,9'unun doktor, %16,2'sinin sosyal medya ve magazinden edinildiği görülmüştür. Katılımcıların SYİ-2015 ortalamaları 72,94 ± 9,36 puan (geliştirilmesi gereken diyet kalitesi), YTT ortalamaları 20,18 ± 10,23 puan (riskli yeme tutumu), BAÖ ölçeği ortalamaları 34,10± 9,63 puan (şiddetli anksiyete), ORTO-11 ortalamaları 25,76±2,27 puan (ortorektik) olduğu bulunmuştur. Pandemi sürecinin insanlarda oluşturduğu korku, anksiyete vb. gibi olumsuz etkiler bireyleri, özellikle sağlıklı beslenme, besin takviyeleri vb. yollar ile sağlıklarını daha çok kontrol altında tutmaya çalışmaya itmiş olabilmektedir. Ancak gereksinimler doğrultusunda takviye alımı ve sağlıklı bir yaşam tarzı ile sağlığın korunabileceği göz önünde bulundurulursa bireylere doğru kaynaklardan doğru eğitimlerin verilmesinin sağlıkları açısından daha etkili ve önemli olabileceği düşünülmektedir. This study aimed to determine the use of nutritional supplements and adequate nutritional levels of adults in the COVID-19 process. This research was conducted with a total of 174 individuals who were 39 males and 135 females, aged between 18 and 65 years, who applied to a private nutrition counseling center between December 2020 and March 2021. In this research questionnaire form including questions about individuals sociodemographic characteristics, eating habits and anthtopometric measurements of individuals, Healthy Eating Index (HEI-2015) to evaluate diet quality, Eating Attitude Test (EAT) to measure eating attitude, ORTO-11 to determine individuals' orthorexic tendencytest, Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) and three-day food consumption record form to determine their anxiety states were applied to the participants. A total of 174 adults consisted of 135 women and 39 men with an average age of 41.29± 12.21 years, participated in the study. 32,2% of the participants consumed nutritional support during the COVID-19 period and also this consumption was higher in women than in men. It was observed that the participants mostly consumed multivitamins (58.9 %), vitamin D (39.2%) and vitamins C (25.0%) and also it was observed that the majority of them (67.9%) took the supplements twice a day. 60.7% of the participants took the nutritional supportto be healthy, 30.4% took to lose weight and stay in shape and also 8.9% took to burn fat and build muscle. It is seen that the majority of the participants (57.5%) don't have any education about nutrition so far, and also 67.6% of the information or education about nutrition is obtained from dietician,14.9% is obtained from doctors, 16.2% is obtained from social media and magazine. Participants' HEI-2015 mean score was 72.94±9.36 (that means diet quality yo be improved), EAT mean score was 20.18±10.23 (that means risky eating attitude), BAI mean score was 34.10±9.63 point (that means severe anxiety) and the mean of ORTO-11 score was found to be 25.76±2.27 point (orthorexic). The negative effects of pandemic process such as fear, anxiety, etc. have obligated the humans try to keep their health under control by the ways of healthy diets, nutritional supplements and etc. Simply, if it is taken into consideration that the health can be protected by taking supplements in line with the needs and a healthy life style, it can be thought that giving the right education to individuals from the rights our cesmay be more effective and important in terms of their health.
