Abstract
ABSTRACT INVESTIGATION OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LEVELS OF DISABILITY, SLEEP QUALITY, DEPRESSION, FATIGUE AND QUALITY OF LIFE RELATED TO LOWER PAIN IN PARENTS OF CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS Parents of children with special needs are affected in many ways. Families are at higher risk psychologically and physiologically, since the needs of these children are met by their parents. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between disability level, sleep, depression, fatigue and quality of life of parents of children with special needs. This study was conducted in the mothers and fathers of the children treated at the Private Aydınlı Special Education and Rehabilitation Center. The study is a cross-sectional study. 100 people were included in the study. After the demographic information of the parents was recorded, the pain severity of the parents was determined with the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), the disability level due to low back pain, with the Oswestry Disability Index (OÖİ), the sleep quality with the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Scale (PUKÖ), the fatigue severity, the Fatigue Severity Scale (YŞS). The level of depression was assessed with the Beck Depression Scale (BDÖ), the quality of life with the SF-36 Quality of Life Scale, and the physical loadings of the children with the Physical Loading Questionnaire (FYA), and the rough motor function classification system (KMFSS). A positive strong correlation was found between the OÖİ and PUKÖ. As the level of disability due to low back pain increases, sleep score increases. In the presence of chronic disease, the level of disability due to low back pain was found to be increased. It was found that as the motor function level of children decreased (the level of dependence in motor functions increased), the disability level, sleep score, and depression level of the parents due to low back pain increased. Key words: Parents, Disabled Children, Low Back Pain, Sleep, Depression, Fatigue, Quality of Life
