Abstract
In the globalizing world, and thanks to many factors including the diversification of transportation opportunities and increased freedom of travel and international cooperation, individuals travel outside of their place of residence to receive preventive and curative health services and this travel is defined as health tourism. It is known that the number of travelers for medical tourism, which is developing rapidly and is one of the sub-headings of health tourism, exceeds 10 million and reaches an annual turnover of 100 billion dollars. In Turkey, medical tourism has recently made improvements with the efforts of private hospitals, hospitals have participated in international medical tourism fairs, 'International Patient Units' have been established to improve the quality of the service provided to foreign patients, and websites providing multilingual supported services have been launched to ensure the patient's access to information and services in the most efficient way. The main purpose of this study is to examine the usability of the websites of two private hospital chains in Istanbul, which provide medical tourism services, in terms of users. In this descriptive study, the population of the research consists of 600 who are expected to apply to two chain hospitals in Istanbul within a year. As the sample, 237 people from patients or their relatives who applied between 01/01/2021 and 15/04/2021 were determined. The scale used as a data collection method to determine patient opinions on the usability of websites is the Wammi Web usability questionnaire. The Wammi Web usability questionnaire consists of usability-control, satisfaction, effectiveness-impactness and learnability factors. In this direction, a survey was conducted with the participation of 237 people who applied to two private hospital chains serving in Istanbul. While analyzing the obtained data, the Independent Sample T-Test was used for two independent variables and the One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) test was used for more than two independent variables. As a result of the research, it was seen that there was no significant difference between the usability-control, satisfaction effectiveness-impactness and learnability factors of the questionnaire regarding the usability of the websites, and the variables of age, gender, education variable, marital status, occupation, monthly income level. There was a significant difference in the satisfaction factor between the participants of Hospital A, one of the two private chain hospitals, and Hospital B, the other private hospital (p=0.030). It was observed that there was a significant difference between the Hospital A participants and the Hospital B participants in terms of Effectiveness-Impressiveness factor (p=0.002). There was a significant difference in the monthly income variable between hospital A participants and Hospital B participants (p=0.008). As a result, the benefits of hospital websites in terms of promotion and advertising activities, hospital awareness and institutional strategies, accessibility and sustainability have been determined. In light of these findings, it was concluded that it is important for hospitals providing medical tourism services to have web sites designed for the user. Keywords: Medical Tourism, Importance of Hospital Websites, Patient Satisfaction.
