Abstract
Amaç: Çalışmanın amacı toplumda obezite sorunundaki nedenlerin derinlemesine incelenmesidir. Çalışmada; katılımcıların diyete karar verme nedenleri, ağırlık kaybı için denenen yöntemler, ağırlık kaybı sürecinde yaşanan başarı ve başarısızlık nedenleri, ağırlık kazanımında suçlanan ve masum görülen tüketim öğeleri, ağırlık kazanımında suçlu görülen beslenme davranışları ve yemek yemenin kişiler için anlamı veya hissettirdikleri araştırılmıştır. Yöntem: Bu çalışma İstanbul ili Kadıköy ilçesindeki özel bir beslenme eğitimi merkezinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmaya 18-45 yaş arası 25 obez kadın dahil edilmiştir. Katılımcıların ağırlık kazanmalarının altında yatan nedenleri saptamak için özel hazırlanmış bir anket yapılmıştır. Katılımcılar ile derinlemesine görüşmeler, veriler doygunluğa ulaşana kadar devam etmiştir. Sonuç: Çalışmanın sonucunda ağırlık kaybetme sürecine başlamanın en büyük nedeni olarak sağlık sorunları olduğu görülmektedir. Bunu fiziksel görünüş, psikolojik nedenler ve sosyal çvrenin etkisi takip etmektedir. Katılımcıların obez olmasına en çok katkı sağlayan beslenme davranışı, duygusal yeme davranışı olarak belirlenmiştir. Katılımcıların ağırlık kaybetme süreci boyunca başarıya ulaşmalarında etkili olan en önemli faktörün yüksek motivasyon olduğu saptanmıştır. Bunu diyetisyen desteği ve sosyal çevrenin desteği takip etmektedir.
Objective: The aim of the study is to examine the causes of the obesity problem in society in depth. In the study; The reasons for the participants to decide on the diet, the methods tried for weight loss, the reasons for success and failure in the weight loss process, the consumption items accused and considered innocent in weight gain, the nutritional behaviours considered guilty in weight gain, and the meaning or feel of eating for people was investigated. Method: This study was carried out in a private nutrition education centre in the Kadıköy district of Istanbul province. 25 obese female individuals between the ages of 18-45 were included in the study. A specially prepared survey was conducted to determine the underlying reasons for the participants to gain weight. In-depth interviews with the participants continued until the data reached saturation. Conclusion: As a result of the study, it is seen that health problems are the biggest reason for starting the process of losing weight. This is followed by physical appearance, psychological reasons and social environment effect. The eating behaviour that contributes the most to obesity of the participants was determined as emotional eating behaviour. The high motivation was found to be the most important factor in achieving the success of the participants during the weight loss process. This is followed by dietitian support and the support of the social environment.
