İlkokul ve ortaokul yöneticilerinin kişilik özellikleri ile karar verme becerileri arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesi
Abstract
Bu çalışmanın amacı, ilkokul ve ortaokul yöneticilerinin kişilik özellikleri ile karar verme becerileri arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesidir. Araştırmanın örneklemini İzmir ili Karşıyaka, Çiğli, Bayraklı, Bornova ve Konak ilçelerinde ilkokul ve ortaokullarda müdür ve müdür yardımcılığı görevini yapan toplam 200 eğitim yöneticisi oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın yöntemi ilişkisel taramadır. Araştırmada; ilkokul ve ortaokul yöneticilerinin karar verme becerileri araştırmanın bağımlı değişkenidir. Görüşlerine başvurulan ilkokul ve ortaokul yöneticilerinin kişilik özellikleri, cinsiyet, yaş, mesleki kıdem, yöneticilikteki kıdem, görev türü ve görevli olduğu okul kademesiise araştırmanın bağımsız değişkenlerini oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak 'Okul Yöneticilerinin Karar Verme Becerileri Ölçeği' ve 'Beş Faktör Kişilik Ölçeği' kullanılmıştır. 'Okul Yöneticilerinin Karar Verme Becerileri Ölçeği' Acet (2006) tarafından, 'Beş Faktör Kişilik Özellikleri Ölçeği' Jhon, Donahue ve Kentle (1991) tarafından geliştirilmiş, Alkan (2007) tarafından Türkçeye uyarlanarak, güvenirlilik çalışması yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın bulgularına göre, okul yöneticilerinin kişilik özellikleri yaş ve mesleki kıdeme göre anlamlı bir farklılık göstermekte ancak cinsiyete, yöneticilikteki kıdeme, görev türüne ve okul kademesine göre anlamlı bir farklılık göstermemektedir. Okul yöneticilerinin karar verme becerileri yaşa, mesleki kıdeme, cinsiyete, yöneticilikteki kıdeme, görev türüne ve okul kademesine göre anlamlı bir farklılık göstermemektedir. Aynı zamanda ilkokul ve ortaokul yöneticilerinin kişilik özellikleri ile karar verme becerileri düzeyleri arasında ilişki incelenmiş, kişilik özellikleri ile karar verme becerileri arasında olumlu yönde orta düzeyde bir ilişki saptanmıştır. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between personality characteristics and decision-making skills of primary and secondary school administrators. The study sample constitutes 200 school managers who are working as a principle or a deputy principle in Karşıyaka, Çiğli, Bayraklı, Bornova and Konak districts of Izmir province. The method of the study is relational survey. In this study, decision-making skills of primary and secondary school managers are the dependent variable of the study. Primary and secondary school administrators' personality characteristics, gender, age, seniority, seniority in management, type of duty and stageof the school which they work at constitute the independent variables of the study. As the data collecting instrument 'Demographic Data', 'Decision Making Skills Inventory of School Administrators' and 'Five Factor Personality Scale' have been used. 'School Managers' Decision Making Skills Scale' was developed by Acet (2006), 'Five Factor Personality Trait Scales' was developed by Jhon, Donahue and Kentlein (1991) and it was adapted into Turkish and reliability study was conducted by Alkan (2007). According to the findings of the study, school administrators' personality traits show a significant difference according to age and seniority, but they do not show a significant difference according to gender, seniority in management, task type and school level. School administrators 'decision-making skills do not show a significant difference according to age, seniority, gender, seniority in management, task type and school level. At the same time the relationship between levels of decision-making skills and personality traits of primary and secondary school administrators is investigated, a moderate positive correlation has been found between the personality traits and decision-making skills.
