Abstract
This research was conducted as a prospective experiment with the purpose of examining the relationship between Acute Coronary Syndrome and digit ratio of second and fourth hand fingers which are thought to be developed under the effects of prenatal hormones. Present data of the study was collected from a coronary and surgery intensive care unit of a training research hospital in İstanbul between the dates 2020 August and January 2021. Patients who are 18 and older who had been diagnosed with acute coronary syndrome and hospitalized, and their relatives who had not been diagnosed with the same syndrome and over 18 years old constituted the necessary population of the research. According to formula of calculating samples there were 102 participants with equal gender ratio for the case group while the same number and the gender ratio were applicable for the healthy group, which constitutes the total of 204 participants meaning that the research was conducted 204 participants. The data were collected with the help of the questionnaire method after the approval of the ethics committee and the permission of the institution were obtained. Data were collected using a 15-question Patient Information Form and vernier caliper. R vers. 2.15.3 statistics program was used in the process of analyzing the data obtained. Minimum and maximum value, mean, standard deviation, median, first quartile, third quartile, frequency and percentage were determined and used As a result, the present study found that the right and left hand 2D:4D digit ratios of the participants with the diagnosis of Acute Coronary Syndrome had a lower ratio than the healthy people.
