Abstract
In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between the professional autonomy of surgical nurses and the team approach. The population of the descriptive study consisted of surgical nurses, and the sample consisted of 206 surgical nurses who had been working for at least 6 months between 01.05.2021 and 20.06.2021 and volunteered to participate in the study. The data of the study were collected with Nurse Introduction Form, Attitude Scale for Nurses Towards Professional Autonomy and Team Approach Form. Evaluation of the data was made with SPSS 24.0 program and as descriptive statistical methods; number, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Mann-Whitney U test between two independent groups, Kruksal Wallis test between more than two independent groups, Dunnett T3 test as a complementary post-hoc analysis to determine differences after Anova test, examining the relationship between scale and form Correlation analysis was applied for Statistically, p<0.05 was considered significant. The mean age of the surgical nurses participating in the study was 32.12±6.69 years, the duration of professional experience was 10.05±6.83 years, the years of experience in the unit they worked were 7.74±5.71 years, 82.5% of them were female, It was determined that 56.3% were married, 62.1% had a bachelor's degree, 71.4% worked in the province of Istanbul, 55.3% worked in a training and research hospital, and 33% worked in the surgical service. The Nurses' Attitudes Towards Professional Autonomy Scale total score was 75.23±11.23 and the Team Approach Form score was 92.22±6.88. No statistically significant difference was found between the mean score of the Attitudes towards Professional Autonomy Scale according to the sociodemographic and clinical characteristics of the surgical nurses (p>0.05). A statistically significant difference was found between the scores obtained from the Team Approach Form according to the education level of the surgical nurses (p<0.05). No statistically significant correlation was found between the scores of the nurses within the scope of the study, obtained from the Attitudes towards Professional Autonomy Scale and the Team Approach Form (p>0.05). As a result of this research, it was concluded that the professional autonomy of surgical nurses was high, the team approach was positive, and there was no relationship between professional autonomy and team approach. It is recommended that the study be repeated with a larger sample Keywords: Professional autonomy, Surgical nursing, Team approach
