The assessment on determining the levels of primary and secondary school administrators' use of computer technology
Abstract
Bu araştırma ile ilk ve ortaokullarda, yöneticilerin bilgisayar teknolojisini hangi yönetsel işlevler için kullandıklarını ve bilgisayar teknolojilerini kullanma konusundaki düzeylerini belirlemek amacıyla incelenmiştir. Bu araştırma tarama modelinde betimsel bir çalışmadır. Araştırmanın örneklemini 2012–2013 eğitim-öğretim yılı İzmir ili merkez ilçelerinde ilkokul ve ortaokullarda görev yapan 241 öğretmen, 80 yönetici oluşturmaktadır. Örneklem, basit şeçkisiz örnekleme yoluyla seçilmiştir. Araştırmada veri toplama araçları olarak 'Bilgisayar Teknolojisinin Kullanım Alanları' kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler, SPSS 15.0 programı kullanılarak istatistiksel analiz ve yorumlarda kullanılmıştır. Analizlerin yapılmasında aritmetik ortalama, standart sapma gibi betimsel istatistiklerin yanı sıra t testi, tek yönlü varyans analizi ve korelasyon analizi de kullanılmıştır. İlk ve ortaokullarda görev yapmakta olan yöneticilerin bilgisayar teknolojisini en fazla çalışan işlerinde kullandıkları görülmüştür. Bunu sırasıyla öğrenci işleri, eğitim işleri ve okul işletmesiyle ilgili işler izlemektedir. Yöneticilerin bilgisayar kullanma düzeyleri kademe ve yaş değişkenlerine göre anlamlı farklılık göstermektedir. Araştırmada elde edilen sonuçlara göre ilk ve ortaokullarda görev yapmakta olan yöneticilerin bilgisayar teknolojisini çalışan işlerinde kullanma düzeyleriyle ilgili yönetici görüşleriyle, öğretmen görüşleri paralellik göstermektedir. Ayrıca, yöneticiler bilgisayar teknolojisini en çok okul çalışanlarına (öğretmen, hizmetli vs.) ilişkin atama, ayrılma, nakil ve yer değiştirme işlerinin düzenlenmesi ve çalışan sicil defterinin hazırlanması, işlerinde kullandıkları düşünürken, öğretmenler yöneticilerin en çok yıllık, mazeret, hastalık ve aylıksız izinlerinin düzenlenmesi işlerinde kullandığı düşünmektedir. Okul yöneticileri bilgisayar teknolojilerini çalışan ile ilgili işlerde en az, çalışan özlük dosyasının hazırlanması işlerinde kullandığını düşünürken, öğretmenler yolluk, doğum, tedavi, ölüm ve cenaze yardımlarının düzenlenmesi işlerinde kullanıldığını düşünmektedir. Yöneticilerin çalışan işleriyle ilgili işleri kullanma sıklıkları çoğunlukla 'her zaman' olurken, öğretmenlere göre 'çoğu zaman' olduğu görülmektedir. With this research in primary and secondary schools, it was aimed to determine which administrative function of administrators' use the computer technology and their levels in it. This research, in screening model, was a descriptive survey. The study sample was constituted by 241 teachers and 80 administrators working in the central district of Izmir in 2012-2013 Academic Year. The study sample was chosen through a simple random sampling method. In the research, 'The Fields of Computer Technology Use' Scale was used as means of data collection. The obtained data, using SPSS 15.0 software, was used in the statistical analysis and interpretation. In conducting analysis, t-test, one-way analysis of variance and correlation analysis have been used as well as descriptive statistics such as arithmatic mean, standart deviation. It had been seen that the administrators who work in primary and secondary schools use the computer technology mostly in often-used work. Respectively, student affairs, education work, school management work was followed. The levels of the administrators' computer use vary significantly according to the stage and age variables. According to the results of the research, it has been seen that there is a parellelism between the views of the levels of the administrators' computer technology use and the teachers' views. Besides, administrators thought that they used computer technology mostly in assignments, departure, transport and regulation of resettlements whereas teachers thought that they used computer technology mostly in annual leave, compassionate leave, illness and unpaid leave. School administrators thought that they used computer technology the least in arranging the personel file as teachers thought that they used computer technology the least in arranging the travel allowances, giving birth, treatment, death and funeral affairs.
