Abstract
Objective: In this study, our goal is to determine the effects of mandala activity applied with two different types of music on stress levels and coping with stress in infertile women who undergo embryo transfer. Method: The research was conducted as a randomized controlled experimental study with women who underwent embryo transfer between 01.07.2021-31.07.2022 at the Private Samsun Medicana International Hospital IVF Center and the Private Samsun VM MedicalPark Hospital IVF Center. The intervention group (G1,G2) received the descriptive information form, the COMPI Fertility Problem Stress Scales and the COMPI Coping Strategy Scales after embryo transfer. Mandala activities were used in conjunction with their preferred music or meditation music from the beginning of embryo transfer until one day before the Beta-Hcg test. The COMPI Fertility Problem Stress Scales and COMPI Coping Strategy Scales were repeated one day before the BetaHcg test. This activity was provided to both groups for at least 7–10 days. The control group received the descriptive information form, the COMPI Fertility Problem Stress Scales and the COMPI Coping Strategy Scales after embryo transfer. The COMPI Fertility Problem Stress Scales and the COMPI Coping Strategy Scales were repeated one day before the BetaHcg test. Results: Infertility stress of the people in the G1 and G2 groups who performed mandala accompanied by meditation music was decreased compared to the control group, and the scores of coping with infertility stress were higher than the control group. The COMPI Fertility Problem Stress Scales, Personal Stress, Marriage Stress, and Social Stress scores of the control group were higher than those of the G1 and G2 goups. Conclusion: According to the research results, mandala activity applied with two different types of music in infertile women who undergo embryo transfer has positive effects on stress levels and coping with stress. Keywords: Embryo transfer, mandala, music, stress, coping with stress.
