60-66 aylık çocukların kendilik algıları ile annelerinin öz yeterlikleri arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesi
Abstract
In this study, the relationship between self-perception of 60-66 month old children and maternal self-efficacy has been analyzed. In doing so, it was investigated whether self-perception of 60-66 month old children and self-efficacy of their mothers differ according to the variables which are child's gender, age of mother, education status, number of children she has, current employment, level of income and birth order of the child. The sample of this study involves 224 girls, 212 boys, in total 436 children, 60-66 months of age, who were educated in 5 independent kindergartens determined by simple random sampling method in state-dependent independent kindergartens, elementary kindergartens and kindergartens that are dependent middle school which are located in Ataşehir districts of the Asian side of İstanbul, and their mothers in the 2017-2018 academic year. Demographic Information Form, developed by the researcher and Self – Efficacy for Parenting Tasks Index, developed by Priscilla K. Coleman and Katherine H. Karraker (2000 and Parental Self-Efficacy Scale, standardized by Çiğdem Kotil for use in Turkey, are filled by the mothers in the sample group. In addition, Purdue Self-Concept Scale for Children was developed by Cicirelli (1974) and constructed its validity by Özcan, Gümüş and Kotil (2009) is conducted by researcher individually. Number, percentage, mean and standard deviation were used as descriptive statistical methods in the evaluation of the data. The t-test was used to compare quantitative continuous data between two independent groups, and the One-way Anova test was used to compare quantitative continuous data between more than two independent groups. After the Anova test, Scheffe test was used as a complementary post-hoc analysis to determine the differences. According to result of this study, even though there is no difference in the general scores between self-perception of 60-66-month-old children and parental self-efficacy in the sample, there are differences depending on the sub-dimensions and variables. The findings of the study revealed that maternal self-efficacy sub-dimensions of care, nurture, discipline, participation, health scores have no effect on the self-perception of 60-66 months old children. While mother's income level, age, education level, occupation status, working status and birth order of the child differentiate the mother's self-efficacy; it was found that the gender variable of the child has no effect on the mother's self-efficacy. It was concluded that the variables in the study did not affect the self-perception of 60-66 months old children. It was concluded that the variables in the study have no influence on the self-perception of 60-66 months old children.
