dc.description.abstract This Study aims to explain the effects of Turkish People's Development in terms of qualifications on the economy and social life. Firstly, the subject is outlined theoretically. Secondly, the effects of education and income in 1980-2009 are measured. Education system should be able to respond the needs of industry. Turkey has had relatively good economic performance since the early 1980s following export-oriented growth strategy accompanied with liberal trade regime. Therefore, Turkey probably had been in a position of appropriate starting point and could take advantage of globalization during 1980s. This study deals with the important results, which indicate that Turkey is not the country of 1980's. Hence, it is necessary to attract the interest of foreign direct investment and to get cross border industrial relations with the appropriate structural reforms. International firms should be stimulated to work in a competitive manner in domestic economy and transfer new technology and production processes and to spend on education and training of the labor force. © International Economic Society. en_US
