Abstract
Six sigma quality management systems, one of the quality management systems, have been developed in 1981 and aims to take the measures to ensure that the product on the market has the least error and loss during the production stages. Therefore, the company adopts the principle of reducing the production cost by reducing the amount of loss during production and thus offering the quality product to the customer at a more affordable price. Occupational Health and Safety is defined as the whole of systematic and scientific studies carried out in order to protect employees against conditions that may cause harm to human health, public health or environment caused by various reasons in the workplace or due to the conduct of the work. In this research, the benefits of using six sigma quality management system and processes in occupational health and safety management were investigated and the benefits of using six sigma management systems in occupational health and safety management were aimed. In the study, the last one-year accident data of a company engaged in the production of white goods (home appliances) in Turkey were held to examine statistically before proceeding to Six Sigma management system. Afterwards, six sigma management systems were applied in the field of occupational health and safety in the company. As a result of six sigma applications, accident data were collected and statistical comparison of the data before and after six sigma system was performed and finally the benefits of six sigma systems have been revealed.
