Abstract
THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BREASTFEEDING ATTITUDES OF MOTHERS WITH 0-24 MONTHS BABIES AND THE EFFECTS OF FATHERS ON BREASTFEEDİNG This study is conducted as a descriptive study to examine the relationship between the breastfeeding attitude of mothers with babies between 0-24 months and the effect of fathers on breastfeeding. The sample of the study consisted of breastfeeding mothers and fathers of babies, who were registered to Istanbul Family Health Center between February and May 2021. A total of 110 parents were included in the study. The data of the online research were collected using 'Personal Data Form', 'Fathers Effect on Breastfeeding Scale' and 'Breastfeeding Attitude Evaluation Scale'. As a result, 53.1% of the mothers and 46.8% of the fathers participating in the study are between the ages of 25-34, 54.3% of the mothers and 52.6% of the fathers are university graduates, and 55.9% of the mothers. and 96.4% of fathers are actively working. Mothers' mean breastfeeding attitude score was 161.0±17.94, and fathers' affect on breastfeeding mean score was 124.32±34.78. According to socio-demographic variables, mothers' breastfeeding attitude was statistically significant according to father's education level, mother's employment status, number of children, type of birth, time the mother plans to breastfeed her baby, age at marriage, age difference with spouse (p<0.05), while other socio-demographic variables and factors related to birth had no effect on breastfeeding attitude (p>0.05). The effect of fathers on breastfeeding is found to be statistically significant according to mother's education, father's education, mother's employment, planned pregnancy, receiving pre-pregnancy breastfeeding education and birth type (p>0.05). Finally, we found that there is a significant but limited relationship between mothers' breastfeeding attitude and fathers' affect on breastfeeeding.
