Abstract
The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of neural mobilization on respiratory parameters, pain and neck awareness in individuals with chronic neck pain. Twenty-six individuals with chronic neck pain who participated in the study were divided into experimental and control groups. Conventional (5 days/weekx3) treatment was applied to the control group (n=13). In addition to conventional treatment, 10 sessions of neural mobilization were performed in the experimental group (n=13). Cervical range of motion was evaluated with a goniometer, visual analog scale (VAS) was used to evaluate pain severity, manual muscle test was used to evaluate muscle strength, and the Fremantle Neck Awareness Questionnaire (FreBAQ) was used to evaluate neck awareness. Respiratory functions were evaluated with a spirometer. There was a significant difference in pain and neck joint movement patency in both groups after treatment (p<0.05). There was a significant difference between the groups in respiratory function tests and dec awareness (p<0.05). As a result of the study, it was thought that neural mobilization treatment used in addition to conventional physiotherapy in patients with chronic neck pain may have beneficial effects on joint range of motion, pain, neck awareness and respiratory functions.
