Abstract
Bu çalışmanın amacı İstanbul'da yaşayan 18-49 yaş arası yetişkin bireylerde yeme farkındalığı ve sezgisel yemenin Beden Kütle İndeksi ile ilişkisini değerlendirmektir. Bu çalışma Şubat 2022-Nisan 2022 tarihlerinde 546 birey (172'si erkek, 374'ü kadın) üzerinde yürütülmüştür. Bireylerin sosyo-demografik özelliklerini, sağlık bilgilerini, beslenme alışkanlıklarını, antropometrik bilgilerini içeren online anket formu ve Yeme Farkındalığı Ölçeği (YFÖ-30) ile Sezgisel Yeme Ölçeği (SYÖ-2) sorularını içeren online form çevrimiçi ortamda uygulanarak veriler toplanmıştır. Bireylerin %31,5'u erkek, %68,5'u kadındır ve yaş ortalaması 29,5±8,1 yıl'dır. Bireylerin BKİ ortalamaları 23,7±4,0 kg/m²dir. Bireylerin boy uzunluğu ortalamaları 1,68±0,08 m'dir. Erkeklerin BKİ ortalamaları 25,4±4,0kg/m² iken, kadınların BKİ ortalamaları 22,8±3,8kg/m²'dir. Bireylerin %7,9'u (43 kişi) zayıf, %58,4'ü (319 kişi) normal, %25,1'i (137 kişi) hafif şişman, %8,6'sı (47 kişi) şişman grubundadır. Erkek ve kadın bireylerin çoğunluğu normal ve hafif şişman BKİ'ye sahiptir. Bireylerin YFÖ-30 ortalama puanı 3,30±0,47 iken erkeklerin 3,26±0,46 kadınların 3,32±0,48'dir(p>0,05). Bireylerin SYÖ-2 ortalama puanı 3,46±0,66 iken erkeklerin SYÖ-2 ortalama puanı 3,45±0,64 kadınların ise 3,46±0,67'dir(p>0,05). Bireylerin vücut ağırlığı ve BKİ değeri artarken YFÖ-30 puanı azalmaktadır (r=-0,219, p<0.01 ve r=-0,214, p<0.01). Bireylerin vücut ağırlığı ve BKİ değeri artarken SYÖ-2 puanı azalmaktadır (r=-0,195, p<0.001 ve r=-0,237, p<0.001). YFÖ-30 puanı arttıkça SYÖ-2 puanı da artmaktadır ve aralarındaki ilişki istatiksel açıdan anlamlı bulunmuştur (r=0,399, p<0.01). Araştırma sonucunda bireylerin yeme farkındalığı ve sezgisel yeme puanı arttıkça BKİ'nin azaldığı tespit edilmiştir. Yeme farkındalığı arttıkça sezgisel yeme durumunun arttığı belirlenmiştir. Yeme farkındalığı ve sezgisel yeme yaklaşımlarının bireylere uygulanması vücut ağırlığı yönetiminde etkili stratejilerden olabilir. Daha geniş populasyonlarda klinik çalışmalar tasarlanarak nedensel etki belirlenebilir.
The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship between mindful eating and intuitive eating and Body Mass Index in adults aged 18-49 who are living in Istanbul. This study was conducted with 546 individuals (172 males, 374 females) between February and April 2022. Data were collected by applying the online questionnaire form containing the socio-demographic characteristics, health information, nutritional habits, anthropometric information of individuals and the online form containing the scales of the Mindful Eating Questionnare(MEQ-30) and Intuitive Eating Scale (IES-2).31.5% of the individuals were male, 68.5% are female, and the mean age of the individuals was 29.5±8.1 years.The mean BMI of the individuals is 23.7±4.0 kg/m² and the mean height is 1.68±0.08 m. While the mean BMI of maleswas 25.4±4.0kg/m², the mean BMI of females was 22.8±3.8kg/m². 7.9% (43 people) of the individuals were underweight, 58.4% (319 people) were normal, 25.1% (137 people) were overweight, 8.6% (47 people) were obese. Most of the BMI distribution of individuals in both groups was in the normal and overweight groups. While the mean MEQ-30 score of the individuals was 3.30±0.47, the mean MEQ-30 score of the males was 3.26±0.46, while the mean score of the females was 3.32±0.48 (p>0.05).While the mean IES-2score of the individuals was 3.46±0.66, the mean IES-2 score of the men was 3.45±0.64 and the mean score of the women was 3.46±0.67 (p>0.05). While the body weight and BMI values of individuals increase, the MEQ-30 score decreases (r=-0.219, p<0.01 and r=-0.214, p<0.01). While the body weight and BMI values of individuals increase, the IES-2 score decreases (r=-0.195, p<0.001 and r=-0.237, p<0.001). As the MEQ-30 score increases, the IES-2 score also increases, and the relationship between them was found to be statistically significant (r=0.399, p<0.01).As a result of the study, it was determined that BMI decreased as individuals' mindful eating and intuitive eating levels increased. It was determined that as the mindful eating increased, the intuitive eating situation increased. Mindful eating and intuitive eating approaches may be effective strategies in body weight management. The causal effect can be determined by designing clinical studies in larger populations.
