Abstract
Obez öğrencilerin %50'si kadın, %50'si erkek; ve fazla kilolu öğrencilerin %34,5'i kadın, %65,5'i erkek olarak saptanmıştır.
Our study is conducted in Adana/ Kozan county centre to define the students'-attending the course for PPSE (Puplic Personal Selection Examination)- eating behaviours and influencing factors, together with the relationship between self esteem, depression and eating behaviour. Parameters collected by a survey prepared by the investigator. In that survey there were 9 questions, which is to determine the participants' sociodemographic characteristics. Additionally, The Dutch Eating Behaviors (DEBQ) survey with 33 questions evaluating the eating behaviors of the cases, Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale evaluating the self esteem and Beck Depression Inventory for Primary Care BDÖ-BB Scale evaluating the depression status added to the survey. When the data evaluated participants' BMI, in our universe of 69.9% female and 39.1% male participants; 1.4% were obese and 39.9% were overweight. It was determined that from obese participants, 50% were female, 50% were male; and from the overweight participants, 34.5% were female, 65.5% were male. In the female participants, emotional eating behaviour were considerably higher compared to the males. It was observed that when the BMI of participants increased, external eating behavior decreased and restrained eating behavior is also increased. There was also no relationship between the BMI of participants and emotional eating behaviours, self esteem and depression. It is observed that when the participants' depression was increasing, self esteem was increasing. When the participants' self esteem was decreasing, depression was increasing. There wasn't any relationship between eating behaviour and self esteem. Both in females and males, the ones who don't drink alcohol, extemal eating behaviour is found istatistically decreased. There are lots of factors which are influencing eating behaviours and most of them are related with each other. With the definition of these factors and their relations with each other, early diagnosis of eating disorder behaviours, eating disorders and obesity may take place; also, this may guide us to define community oriented education and new treatment modalities. Key words: Eating Behaviour, DEBQ, First Step, Depression, Self Esteem.
